In the historical center of Old town Prague lies a delightful restaurant which offers a comforting twist on the most important meal of every traveler: breakfast.
Restaurant Agnes is found in Hotel Casa Marcello, which itself was previously a part of the 1,000 years old Monastery of St. Anežka. An open summer garden with 100 years old locus trees, a flower garden, and a fountain make this elegant restaurant the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing morning while having breakfast. Daily trips to the market ensure that Chef Ondřej Mandík has the fresh, organic products he needs to offer the high-quality meals he is known for. While enjoying the signature breakfast buffet it was a pleasure to see our chef cooking Czech pancakes for us that morning. The pancakes are topped with cinnamon sugar and a little bit of home-made raspberry jelly, making a sweet combination in an atmosphere of a private aristocratic residence.
Location: Rasnovka 783, 110 00 Prague 1 – Stare Mesto, Czech Republic, is located just a few minutes’ walk from historic places such as: Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Prague Castle, Agnes Monastery, Municipal House and many beautiful sights of Old Prague.
Menu: Restaurant Agnes offers a home-like environment. They offer a breakfast buffet from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. all year around. They have the classics like eggs, bacon, bread, fruits, and orange juice alongside specialties from the Czech Republic like their pancakes, a deli selection with local cheeses, jams and infused waters.
Lunch and dinner are served from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in high season. The menu is seasonal and a la carte dishes are available. Room service is available during the opening hours.
They also offer services for corporate meetings and weddings. The menu is targeted to the special event
The place is charming with an excellent approach to service. I enjoyed conversations with staff as they recommended dishes and proudly described their traditional Czech cuisine. I also appreciated that they understand tourists as they offer a big selection of American foods alongside traditional Czech food, guaranteeing a home away from home.
If you are staying at the hotel, you can take advantage of their room service, but I promise that once you see the beautiful patio you will be willing to wake up for breakfast. Their chef is amiable; you will see him flipping pancakes and making sure the meal is the highest quality possible.
I enjoyed that the quality of their products is reflected in their exquisite flavors. Since I was there on a Summer day we had gourmet canapés and desserts accompanied by Prosecco, just delicious!
Price: If you are staying at the Casa Marcelo Hotel breakfast is included in your room rate. Non-residents 350 CZK, around 16 USD, depending of the daily exchange rate.
