What used to be the local corner store and most recently a childcare center is now one of the best burger spots in Nashville. The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden is the self-proclaimed “Wurst-Burger Joint in Nashville,” which is a play on words that may cause one to believe their burgers are not that good. However, it only takes one visit for anyone with a halfway decent palate to know that is not true. There is a reason why this place has consistently had a line out the door since they opened.
Burgers
When you check out any of the best burgers in Nashville list, do not be surprised when one of Pharmacy’s nine burger options shows up on the list. Pharmacy, as it is called by locals, uses 100% Tennessee raised beef for their burgers. The restaurant offers nine burger options that includes two vegetarian options of a black bean burger and falafel burger. The Mission Burger served with black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and horchata crema fresca is a favorite. With that being said, their most popular burger is the Farm Burger. This burger is topped with country ham, bacon and eggs sourced from local farms, hence the name. At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter which burger you select because there isn’t a bad choice on the entire menu
Shakes & Sodas
Besides the actual food that is served at Pharmacy, several patrons are repeat customers for the specialty shakes and sodas. The owners installed an old school soda rail that features authentic phosphate sodas and homemade milk shakes. Two things that make Pharmacy’s sodas unique are: 1) they are made with 100% pure cane sugar and 2) the option of having your soda infused with a specialty in house syrup. The syrup is used in the sodas as well as to blend with ice cream from a nearby creamery. This allows patrons the ability to create limitless combinations of shakes, floats and malts.
The Biergarten
The back of the Pharmacy opens up to Nashville’s first beer garden. Sure there have been several that have popped up since Pharmacy opened six years ago. However, Pharmacy is the first and still one of the best in the city. They have successfully modernized the old-timey beer garden feel with an extensive selection of German beers, American craft brews and other beers on tap.
The biergarten design in the terraced back yard, complete with picnic tables, is welcoming and comfortable for customers. Because there are no reservations at Pharmacy, another benefit to the outdoor biergarten is that it serves a dual capacity as a waiting area which is heated during the cooler months. Whether you are looking for a tasty burger, a handmade milkshake or the atmosphere itself, Pharmacy is a local favorite for the whole family.
