So they did it again! They let someone work with me. Oh but today it was extra special… I didn’t get an intern or a resident, but a first year medical student. Meaning the student hasn’t completed a semester of medical school yet but oh you want to watch Dr. Collins do a procedure that you’ve never seen before.
Me: Okay, you want to be a doctor?
Them: Yes ma’am
Me: Okay then you will do the procedure.
Them: No words (deer in headlights stare with small beads of sweat beginning to form on their forehead)
Other MD: Screaming wait, no they are only a first year medical student.
Me: They said they want to be a doctor so today they will start doctoring.
I then explain what we (they are going to do). After it’s over, the medical student walks out of the room with confidence (minus the few seconds that they got light headed from the adrenaline rush)!!
Me: call your parents and let them know what you did today. Tell them I believe they are going to have a doctor in the family!
Have A Healthy Day!
